Glorious Leader calls out Statement about Reserves

First a reminder of today's board meeting, that is a perfectly normal board meeting, with no barricades, T-Shirt rants or cows:
Public Notice
KBOO Board of Directors Meetings for July 2013
Monday, July 15th, 2013, 6pm
Monday, July 29th, 2013, 6pm
20 SE 8th Avenue, Portland, OR

We have every confidence that Inner Party members will acquit themselves with the same degree of professionalism and rationality they have demonstrated in the past.

Moving on...

On Indymedia, where the laxity of Comrade Bees are reaching treasonous proportions, Glorious Leader corrects a reader about reserves:

false statement about cash reserves 14.Jul.2013 10:54

tm

KBOO's cash reserves are from bequests. Federal money was intentionally cut off for small, nonconformist operations like KBOO, a decade ago. Federal money was not "ignored" or "squandered." It was cut off. It is not now, nor will it be available, no matter how much KBOO kisses the flag. And that's good, because we cannot be controlled by the CPB's dumbed-down agenda. We have never been in the business of making money, and the statement that "KBOO's income is dwindling" is irrelevant. We continue to make better and better radio, and we continue to be more and more effective as honest purveyors of public affairs broadcasting and journalism.

This appears to be in reply to one of two comments:

get facts straight

"KBOO is suffering a cash crisis, in large part, because the 2012 Winter membership drive was cancelled by the new, brilliant and innovative management."

This is not the source of the crisis. The crisis has been going on for YEARS as KBOO has lost revenue. Staff is being paid out of surplus funds from the FEDS that KBOO no longer qualifies for and will not last forever.

correction

"KBOO built up significant savings when it received CPB (Corp. for Pub. Broadcasting) grant money. That money is nearly gone. There is also $200k in Board Reserves that likely will be used to cover staffing in the near term."

Hard to tell which one because they're both treasonous Trotskyist trash.

Just listen to the sound of Glorious leader's comment, that appears to be saying there is no federal money in the reserves:

"Federal money was intentionally cut off for small, nonconformist operations like KBOO, a decade ago. Federal money was not "ignored" or "squandered." It was cut off. It is not now, nor will it be available,"
What more do you need to know?  There is NO reserve with federal funds!   Make a Mao Memo!  Send it ti fellow party members! And find out who this "Éponine" is who wants to sully ideological purity by bring on Thom Hartmann!   We want arrest records!  Library cards!  Outstanding parking tickets!  No mercy for enemies of the people!

Don't forget to bring cameras and audio recorders to the perfectly normal board meeting later today, where the Inner Party will totally not try to reinstate old illegal policies that will sure to get KBOO into hot water faster than you can say "What seems to be the problem, officer?"

SOLIDARITY!

  1. KBOO became ineligible for FEDERAL MONEY because membership dropped below the amount they fund community radio stations for.

In other words, KBOO has shrunk below the level the CPB felt was worth spending on a station that didn't appear like it was going to be around much longer, as in shrinkage. KBOO wasn't "cut off", it fell below the guidelines.

  2. Do COWS count? We could play KBOO while milking them, then milk the CPB for more money to pay the staff. Better educated cows, and more money for KBOO!

  3. From the Glorious Leader's blog:
Read the posts below for a clearer view of the crisis at KBOO radio. Good news: we have successfully appointed three Board members who will not go along with the downsizing/corporate agenda! The General Meeting is coming, and if three hundred of us come, we can reverse the damage to KBOO policy and get the Board we want!

I'm confused, her blog say "Community Radio Must Be For All of Us" but then keeps using we, we, we, like there is a specific agenda for a select group of people?

And why is she so certain 300 ppl can swing it? Is that what it'll take to block the doors and keep the other board members out?

  4. Not sure what she thinks the 300 people will do, per the bylaws the annual meeting is reserved for finishing the board election, and hearing from the Board Prez about the station's financial condition (THAT should be exciting).

I think Glorious Leader may be getting the annual meeting confused with a special meeting, which needs to have any topics be included in the mailer.

Does she want to remove Board Members? Aren't Pauala, Hadrian, and Rabia's terms set to expire?

    ARTICLE V: MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Section 1. Annual Meeting. An annual meeting of the members of the corporation shall be held in the month of September, for the purposes of receiving a report from the President and any other officer the Board of Directors or the President may designate on the activities and financial condition of the corporation, electing members of the Board of Directors, and transacting such other business as may come before the meeting.

Section 2. Special Meetings. Special meetings of the members of the corporation may be called by the Board of Directors or by written demand of at least five percent of the members signed, dated, and delivered to the Secretary and describing the purpose or purposes for which it is to be held.

So, unless someone's playing really fast with the rules, Ben's right and this can't be a special meeting. Otherwise we know glorious leader would have spammed a document like that everywhere
