Traitor Hoyne calls for Transparency in Elections

Blatantly ripping off the highlights of Glorious Leader's talking points, Traitor Ben Hoyne goes bleating to the Board calling for "Transparency in the Elections":

Greetings KBOO Board of Directors,

Thank you for your time and attention. In this email I address several issues which you may have been addressed and remedied already. If that is the case, I apologize. If you have done so, I’d ask that you publicize your efforts, as I have been unable to locate answers to my concerns on the kboo.fm website. Thank you.
As I imagine you all know, the upcoming Board of Directors election will likely garner more attention than those of recent years, which is a great thing for KBOO.
However, with more eyeballs fixated on KBOO, it is important that KBOO not give anyone reason for pause.
I would like to discuss the voter election process that will be used during this election. I have very little idea about what process will be used in the Board Elections this year, which is why I’m penning this email.
I’m asking for as much transparency as possible, for myself and all of KBOOs members.
When things are not transparent, questions are allowed to fester and doubt begins to creep in, which I’m sure is nothing anyone wants.
Let me say that I am not trying to suggest the board members, all of whom serve as volunteers, are not working hard enough. I know from experience board members work very hard. I know there is currently no staff person responsible for web content, and the website has been suffering for some time. I’m not trying to blame any of you for the issues I cite, but rather to bring them to your attention.
I’d like to think I’m an active participant (for a non-board member, non staff member) in KBOO’s governance process. I’ve also put in a board application for this election, so have had some communication with Lyn Moelich, which has been cordial.
Here’s what I know:
The board election will be completed at the Annual Meeting, which will be held sometime in September (at a date, two months from now, which hasn’t been announced to my knowledge).
The election will be overseen by the nomination committee, which recently had Paula Small step down for reasons unknown to me (but seeing as how she’s the only person from her board class to hold her seat for 3 full years, I’m sure she has a legitimate reason). Rabia Yeaman stepped down since she is running for a seat. (Side note: I think we should all applaud Rabia for removing herself from a situation where the appearance of a conflict of interest would be high. Very often it seems that various board members or perhaps the majority (in my experience) have been unconcerned with seeming conflicts of interest.)
I believe Lyn Moelich and Lisa Loving are both still serving on the nomination committee, and Mark Sherman has been recently added. Perhaps others have been added as well, but I cannot find any list of the nominating committee.
I would think one could understand my desire for transparency, since of the three (known to me) members of the nominations committee, Lisa has threatened legal action against me and accused me of a crime and I have publicly asked for answers regarding Lyn Moelich’s partner/boyfriend, including calling for his removal from the board.
I’m not accusing Lyn or Lisa of any mischievous behavior, I’m simply suggesting that the appearance of a conflict exists, and I would hope that everyone would want the election process and most importantly the ballot tabulation to be free from any conflict, whether perceived or real.
I know in the past KBOO has used independent people to handle the ballot process, but that likely costs money. Perhaps you all have chosen once again to use an independent, third party. If so, I applaud you for it, but I’d add it should be noted someone for public consumption.
Here is what I suggest and would like to see:
·      An independent agency to handle and count all of the ballots in the KBOO election.
·      The dates and times of all anticipated Board Election activities, even if they are preliminary at this point (on-air interviews and the annual meeting dates. If they are unknown, an idea would be helpful)
·      A list of all the people that have put an application in for the KBOO Board of Directors.
·      Don’t just give this information to me, put it on the website, transparency!
Again, thank you for listening and understanding. I know you are all volunteers and are working hard. I know the website is not the easiest place to put content at the moment. I’m just asking for some transparency from a non-profit public benefit corporation. I hope that isn’t too much to ask. Thank you for your time, attention, and consideration,
Ben Hoyne
Good God, the man said "transparency" FOUR times!  That's FOUR times as much as Glorious Leader in her manifesto of May 1st(has anyone found that pallet of flyers yet?), unless you count "transparent", which Hoyne also used.  Which makes the math different and we at the Inner Party don't do any more math than necessary. :

IN REBUTTAL: We have had "big changes" at KBOO Community Radio before, and they have been lengthy, open, transparent processes that resulted in satisfactory formats. This is a suden "top-down" change emanating from pro-business enthusiasts with tea-party leanings, in my opinion. Take a look at the comments on my previous posts, for example, and you will find attack after attack on the characters of the Staff, and even an example of the old secret-police ploy, of putting something so disgusting in the mix that it makes it hard to keep reading (a Holocaust reference....not just a nut, folks, but someone who knows what they are doing in stifling open process). The "Stability and growth" angle is an attempt to remove the lifeblood dynamic of community radio, the membership derive, so that it may be replaced with corporate donations. I'm not mind-reading here, just following history at similar community stations. To win, we need transparency big time, so please copy-and-paste, spread widely, put on social media, talk it up, et cetera. And do it NOW because history shows the whole thing could collapse into something that could, as Grover Norquist put it, "be strangled in a bathtub."
"....details of how the Station Navigator intends to maximize available financial resources...."--we already know that the Station Navigator (as Lynn has chosen to call herself) woudl pull the heart out of our economic paradigm, and replace it with...what is left? Sucking up to corporate America like NPR does?

Just to restate: hundreds of thousands in reserve, a cash flow from an enthusiastic member/audience...we are NOT in an economic crisis except to the point that this new Board minority has brought us, as we face tremendous outlays to union-busters, and the loss of disgusted and confused Members. We must fight, respectfully, but with our full strength behind the wheel! Eyes on the prize: a multi-media, more relevant, more transparent, more stable KBOO, using the experience and expertise of our dedicated Staff.

Funny how Glorious Leader references both the Holocaust and the Tea Party, interests of longtime friends of Glorious Leader.  Who says the Inner Party has no sense of irony?

So Traitor Hoyne wants Transparency does he?  And fair election counts by a outside agency, probably a top down corporate entity?  And what's this with wanting to know who wants to run for the Board? It's perfectly normal to have secret candidates on secret ballots shooed in at the last minute under pressure from the Inner Party.

Hold on, cadre message delivery...

[RESUME]

We've just been informed that most organizations actually inform their members of who is planning to run before members vote.  Wow!  Guess KBOO is a different planet!  Well, on planet KBOO it's our way or te highway!

We'll tell you who to vote for, er, who the candidates are when we're good and ready!

  1. Thanks for posting. I'll note that I've asked for the list of people running a few times and was told I'd receive it a few days ago, but that hasn't happened yet.
I understand people are volunteers, but not putting the names of people out 10 days after applications are due begins to raise doubt.
I was told they needed to wait to verify everyone is a kboo member, that's fine, but that shouldn't preclude names being released.
How about, here are the names we received, we need to verify eligibility. If someone is not a member, then scratch them off the list. But you must have a list to begin with.
    It's not that hard.

That's what you think! Before being put on the list, the Inner Party must check for loyalty and background connections to Top Down Corporations, transmitters and cows. Only then will we consider telling anyone who's running.
And why do you want to know anyway? Don't you trust the Inner Party to chose your candidates for you? The Sauvie Island gulag awaits for those who answer wrongly!

  2. "We have had "big changes" at KBOO Community Radio before, and they have been lengthy, open, transparent processes that resulted in satisfactory formats. "

Does this mean the Inner Party will support Hoyne's call for transparency? Or is transparency only for staff/Inner Party with other staff/Inner Party members?

    1. Of course, "transparency" is only for the Inner Party, Comrade!

  3. Traitor Hoyne need not concern himself with the mechanics of KBOO elections, Comrades!

As always, the votes will be counted by trained individuals with an impeccable ideological record.

As Comrade Stalin has said: "It's not the people who vote that count. It's the people who count the votes."

    Words to live by, Comrades!

Besides, who cares who gets elected to the KBOO board? Thanks to the Inner Party's advanced board management techniques, the average KBOO board member has a shorter tenure than the average employee at McDonalds!

  4. "· Don’t just give this information to me, put it on the website, transparency!"

Does anyone know if they answered or put anything on the website?

If it's on the website, did the Webchimps put it somewhere a normal person can find before they grow old and die?

    1. The mystery behind the web chimpanzees is solved...KBOO doesn't have web chimpanzees, or web humans for that matter:

  5. Funny, I too put in an application to run for the board. The only person to respond back on behalf of the station is ... wait for it ... Lisa Loving! I'd agree that it's important to know who is on the nominating committee, and how the election will be handled. Aside from a request to hold the afternoon of August 25th open for a KBOO meet and greet event, there has been nothing else specific about how this goes forward from here.

Perhaps we should put a clipboard in the hallway, and ask those who have submitted a board application to put their names "on the board".

Gotta say that so far I've not experienced anything that's underhanded or improper, but in the current climate at KBOO I would expect people to bend over backwards to make sure the process is fair and transparent.

Ah comrade, but that's an insight into the arrogance of the Inner Party thought process. They claim to have progressive values, but act more like Republicans who deeply feel entitled do whatever will get them ahead.

In May and June that was acting bullish knowing they had support.
Something changed. Now they'll be passive aggressive, drag their feet, and play dumb(Conser doesn't know about Savekboo.org? Give me a break!) until the end.

It's not a bad strategy. Too bad they didn't try that BEFORE the lies, personal attacks, impersonation, etc. Then they might have got away with the dumb act. Too late now.

"The only person to respond back on behalf of the station is ... wait for it ... Lisa Loving!"

Weeeeel, not only is she invested in keeping tabs on an "enemy of the people", but she's trying to buff her own tarnished image. Instead of sucking up to you, she should have apologized to Ben. And Hadrian and Richard for that matter.

At least someone got back to you.

    2. I heard from Lyn Moelich, who also said to save the date for KBOO in the Park, but nothing about the on-air forum or the annual meeting.
Maybe this can be the board Ed, great idea!
Who else put their name in?

    3. Is Ben 9:05 AM the same as Ben 5:52 PM?

Logs indicate this is unlikely, though possible. we know the Inner Party loves the impersonation game.

  6. It could be me both times, are the logs from a computer or a location? My laptop was roving today.
I'll point out "Ben" mentioned communication with Lyn M. in his (my?) email to the board, so it wouldn't be so far fetched to suggest that's what Lyn told me.
Hope about this? It is me and I know I sent you a 3rd email that you've yet to post (I'd suggest saving it for tomorrow, since there have been several posts today). That 3rd email of course has caused people to attempt to smear me and my intentions rather than address the concerns raised (diversionary tactics).

    1. Ben 7:39 PM is the same IP used for 9:05 AM. You match logs as the "real" Ben.

We know people browse from work, then home, but it's pretty consistent. The problem with Ben 5:52 PM is "he" browsed, within minutes of you, from a different location, IP and different browser.

But if you have multiple service provider accounts, that would explain it. Most people use only one device at a time.

Sorry for the false alarm, but we didn't want an Inner Party induced drama to get off the ground.

Someone can email copies of the logs.

  7. WAIT A MINUTE! bh? Ben Hoyne talking to himself? And who is going to investigate the roamings of laptops! Sounds like News We're Not Supposed To Know!

Isn't he Richard Smith anyway? Or was that Traitor Hadrian? Or are we ALL now Ben Hoyne?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm Ben 7:39PM. You're bh. Richard Smith is 9:05AM. Glorius Leader is Blog Bot. Hadrian is Ed, Anonymous is Anonymous (not to be confused with Anonymous). Lisa Loving has left the blog.

Really, I wish you'd get with it already.
