KBOO BORED MEETING AT SEIU AUG 6th!

Where observing members were literally out numbered by cleaning staff!

In our completely non influential blog which none of the 15,000 plus visitors are paying attention to, we will continue to "smear" Inner Party Members, that is, say perfectly true things about their antics they find really, really embarrassing, at least when we get around to transcribing this shit.  (Iron Man 3 is still playing, you know!  We have to watch it at least 5 times! Each!)

Board members in attendance who could use a map and compass were reported to be:

Mark Sherman, Sue Bartlett, Rabia Yeaman, Matthew Bristow , Jeff Kipilman, Timmy Welp and Adin Rogovin

We'd like to point out, Jeffery, much like Conser's honey, has failed to update his email contact on the website.   But he's a step ahead of Adin Rogovin who isn't even listed yet.  We expect Comrade Sherman will have some sharp words for these scofflaws!

Audio was crap  better than nothing once the tech whisperers beat it into shape.  Interesting to note a rumor that Tom Hood has a better copy and apparently refuses to share it with anyone or even have it uploaded to KBOO.

[Of course KBOO should be recording and uploading their own damn audios, since that's what they're telling membership they're doing.  But there we go expecting "corporate" values of competence again!]

Comrade Hood is an "interesting" character, with his own philosophy about audio engineering:
http://feedback.pdxradio.com/topic/recent-kboo-engineering-disasters

A few days ago I heard Tom Hood (the new KBOO engineer) talking about how he was burning incense in engineering and mounted a lava lamp in engineering to drive away evil gremlins, and now it is a changed place. Yet he can't handle the serious engineering problems such as their failed STL, repeatedly failing web streaming, and virus/malware on the web page!
Doh!  We didn't use incense during audio processing!  What were we thinking!

The KBOO sound quality has become worse daily since John Mackey left. Current engineer Tom "Hollywood" Hood is completely incompetent as an engineer. The recent problems with the KBOO air signal, streaming signal, and virus propagating web page are the simple proof; all started long after Mackey left and have not been fixed.
("Hollywood" was the hand picked replacement by board chair Kurt Lauer and Ani Haines)[Comments indicate "feedbackpdx" is incorrect on last point:  "Replace the name Lauer with Chris Merrick (designated acting 'what-ya-call-it' after the Board declared the position of station manger as unsustainable in 2010.)Lauer didn't hire Hood." -edit ]

Maybe we won't hold our breath for Hollywood Hood's copy.

Why would you expect a radio station to be able to competently record audio at a meeting, Comrades?

    That's just crazy-talk!

    1. Maybe they need a lava lamp at meetings.

    2. Yes, and burning incense and sacrificing small animals. We can get all of this to work, comrades!

"("Hollywood" was the hand picked replacement by board chair Kurt Lauer and Ani Haines)"
Replace the name Lauer with Chris Merrick (designated acting 'what-ya-call-it' after the Board declared the position of station manger as unsustainable in 2010.)Lauer didn't hire Hood. No FCC required EEO recruitment or background check was done either. But... the Inner Party continues to flourish as they oust the EVIL Fitch for trying to correct that hiring mishap in time for the FCC renewal. We are the KKK of KBOO, we don't need no stinking rules!

Thanks. A note will be added.

There is nothing wrong with the engineering at KBOO that a few animal sacrifices won't solve, Comrades!

Papa Legba and Ogou will serve as our technical consultants!

  4. So, we've got one hour comrades, anyone have more?

BTW, the "open" meetings haven't been recorded by KBOO in a long time, and those bringing their own recorders wouldn't want them to get lost in the crowd! So an optimum position is hard to find.

    1. "So an optimum position is hard to find."

Sure, when there's a crowd. But when it's only 5 to 7 people?

Unless the meeting was being held in a closet... -_-

That's an interesting detail. On the website they're telling members they're recording meetings, but haven't actually been recording meetings?

There's a word for this behavior.

Seriously. That's the average amount of news outlets at a press conference for any breaking local story. And they can get all their equipment, reporters and camera crews in. If virtually no one was there, each observer had enough room to set up their own media spawning base.

That would be a hilarious photo: a handful of board members surrounded by a handful of observers with media equipment in a large, almost bare room. lol.

That'd be great, but a written report would be good enough for now. It's been a couple of days and apart from the meeting started over an hour late, there's been nothing.

Sorry, the audio is annoying. It's like those Yahoo! stories where they used to only have a video until people complained.

    6. No, the word is a phrase ... NO ONE CARES SO LONG AS THEY GET TO DO THEIR SHOW.

Recordings of Board Meetings only started when there was another round of controversy, I think back when Michael P was trying to get on the board after the citizenship thing. And I think it was our favorite ditz Grace who started doing this, but I could be wrong.

It's ironic, the meeting where people wanted to scream at the board for hiring a law firm to advise about the union drew 75, but meetings that concern serious policy decisions get 15, then 7 attendees.

That's true too, but KBOO is LYING by telling people they're recording meetings when they're not.

It's another symptom of the toxic dysfunction that's killing the station.

Yeah, I'm shocked at the low turnout for this last shindig. Actually expecting the Inner Party to show up in force. Guess they figured they didn't need to...and they were right. :(

Yeah, expect when KBOO goes under they won't have a show.

The irony is this will hit the Inner Party hardest. Many shows have their own Internet presence and archives etc.

Presswatch, Positively Revolting, etc will be sunk.

From the background echo it sounds like they're in a cathedral.

Nah, I'm good. Two times was enough.

    1. How much more could there be? They started after 7 and didn't have an audience to play to/hide from. Since there were only a handful of people watching, can we just know who they were? It's not like any of them could reasonably expect to be hidden in a crowd.

    2. The audio we have here was from one of the handful of people attending this special meeting. The person making the audio didn't know that the device being used had either a file size limit, or an automatic time limit so it turned itself off after one hour of audio. So unless Phisihing Tommy really does have audio and eventually shares it, or someone else who was at the table shares ... this is all that has surfaced so far.

That person was the person who set people up to expect something from Phishy Tommy.

And since there were so few people why is it still a big fucking sekrit who they were? It should be in the minutes....

  7. If you received an email from Tom Hood directing you to a Google Docs/Drive upload, its not the meeting audio. Its a phishing attempt to get your gmail log-in info.

The phishing email received at around 9am. Tom's reply to my inquiry about it received at around 9pm. Tom says he was hacked and spent all day dealing with that - which did not include notifying any of us in that 12 hours or so that he had been hacked...
