About

We are members of the KBOO community who organized to challenge corporatization of KBOO.
Description
We are members of the KBOO community who organized to challenge corporatization of KBOO. With your help and those of hundreds of others in the KBOO community, we have successfully persuaded our KBOO board to reaffirm its commitment to the membership and its core values. Positive changes include
· good faith labor negotiations with the union
· appointment of 4 board members who value membership input and feedback
· returning KBOO to its non-corporate governance structure
· improved communications between the board and the membership
We believe that KBOO is a membership organization and that members are entitled to voice, through its board and committees, in the decisions that affect its operation and programming. We applaud the efforts of the Programming Committee in considering whether or not to bring the Thom Hartmann show to KBOO.
** (from KBOO’s Programming Charter) “KBOO shall be a model of programming, filling needs that other media do not, providing programming to diverse communities and unserved or underserved groups. KBOO shall provide access and training to those communities.
“KBOO’s news and public affairs programming shall place an emphasis on providing a forum for unpopular, controversial, or neglected perspectives on important local, national, and international issues, reflecting KBOO’s values of peace, justice, democracy, human rights, multiculturalism, environmentalism, freedom of expression, and social change.
“KBOO’s arts, cultural, and music programming shall cover a wide spectrum of expression from traditional to experimental, and reflect the diverse cultures KBOO serves.
“KBOO shall strive for spontaneity and programming excellence, both in content and technique.”

Comrade Kate lost no time sockpuppeting to promote Glorious Leader's website:

 And promoting "values" as KKK:

With 48 "likes" so far, the KKK jugernaut looks to be unstoppable!

Readers may not remember, but Comrade Kate was at the Inner Party campout with Glorious Leader and Ani Haines:

Nothing's as cozy as an Inner Party PARTY!

Solidarity!

PS:  Interesting note:  the KKK annoncment was on Linda's timeline.  Friends generally sub to timelines, unless they disable.  Guess which friend completely failed to leak this timely Inner Party information to anyone (as far as we know) while pretending to be wise to the Inner Party?

No need to go into details...just file it away, Comrades....

    1. No, I think you just have to login to Facebook. Remember, they're morons. Just use an alternate profile. Unless you want Theresa Mitchell to dig up your mugshots....

    2. Someone could also post the KKK profile to KBOO's facebook profile. The convo that would start would be pure lulz:

1: The fuck is 'keep kboo kboo"?
2: we're defending community radio from top down corporate management
      1: management you hired?
2: yeah well that was before um we knew it was a bad fit
1: Did you know your initials are KKK?
2: We weren't thinking about that! We need to save KBOO!
      1: From what?
      2: Top down corporate management!
1: Um does this have anything to do with the website being offline?
      2: *silence*

    3. Speaking of some people's *silence*:

"No need to go into details...just file it away, Comrades.... "

Same MO, snooping earlier, except this time it's been 24 hours since they failed to say anything...

    4. Let's see if, now they're read this post, they'll suddenly put on a show.
Meanwhile there membership is holding steady at 48? Look out, this is going viral....

  2. We are now entering Day Three of the Glorious KBOO web blackout, Comrades!

If the web site still isn't up by the board meeting tomorrow, we will probably have to mention it (much as we would like to avoid discussing it).

Inner Party board members will adhere to the following rules:

    1) Do not audibly laugh at KBOO's incompetence when the web blackout is mentioned.

    2) Do not ask who is responsible for getting the web page back online - "responsibility" and "accountability" are evil Corporate code words for, well, responsibility and accountability. The Inner Party doesn't do responsibility and accountability.

    3) It is possible that the additional benefits to provided to cadre under the new union contract will be discussed at the board meeting. Do not groan, smirk, roll your eyes, or suggest that a discussion of additional benefits be deferred until the web page is working again.

    4) Anybody suggesting at the meeting that having the KBOO webpage down for days is a problem is an Evil Traitor, and will be dealt with appropriately.

  3. general comment not particular to this post, has anyone looked at kboo's wiki page?

    Hundreds???????

    1. And compare it to over 5 thousand that wanted to bring Thom Hartman to KBOO. Which has a grassroots progressive base and which is a clique of fringe controlled nuttery?

Of course, with new developments, guess it was a good thing the Hartmann programming fell through....

      Delete
    2. Hartmann hasn't fallen through, it's still there for the taking, but this board won't do it, at least until after the next election, that way any new members brought in by Hartmann wouldn't be eligible to vote :)

    3. We suspect astute readers would tip off the Blue Oregon crowd if KBOO was possibly planning a bait and switch or similar manipulation games...

It's kinda of rock and hard place: on one hand new blood is needed to loosen the Inner Partygrip, but no one should give money to these clowns until they start acting like adults....

    4. "Hundreds???????"

48 can look like hundreds if you squint really hard.

  6. "A Salem judge has ruled that Local 503 of the Service Employees International Union has violated the state's nonprofit laws by failing to hold annual membership meetings, withholding certain records from members and improperly trying to change its corporate structure."

Why is this noteworthy? Well KBOO's board of directors, at its last meeting, took "professional" advice from Timothy Welp, SEIU staff member. Tim said in his "professional opinion" KBOO does not need legal counsel during its union negotiation with staff.

Where did Board Member Tim gain his expertise? Why at SEIU of course, you know the place just got busted violating state non-profit laws...

There's probably some non-profit law that says they have to tell ppl. And with the website down, all they got is FB.

On the plus side, the meeting might be better attended than expected!
